The Sitges Vela Clásica Regatta, held at Port de Sitges, returns for its fifth edition, now firmly established as one of the essential events on the Mediterranean classic sailing calendar. Over four days of competition —from 2 to 5 July 2026— the waters off the Garraf coast will once again become the stage for bows that have crossed seas for decades, yachts with history, and crews united by a passion for traditional sailing.
What began five years ago as an initiative by Andreas Geiger, a sailor deeply passionate about classic yachts, has grown into an internationally recognised event, celebrated for its spirit of camaraderie, the quality of its fleet, and the spectacle of an incomparable setting: the Mediterranean Sea at the foot of Sitges, one of Catalonia’s most elegant towns and one of its most deeply connected to maritime tradition.
The Participating Fleet
The following fleet corresponds to the 2025 edition. For 2026, we hope to welcome those same yachts alongside new entries, with the aim of bringing together between 20 and 25 vessels. The fleet will be confirmed shortly. Participating boats are classified into three categories:
Vintage Yachts
Built before 1950
› Tagomago — A racing yawl built in 1935 by Abeking & Rasmussen in Germany. A jewel from the golden age of yacht design.
› Molly Q — An English Morecambe Bay Prawner cutter, built in 1914 by William & Sons Crossfield in Arnside, England.
› Dreva — A yacht rooted in British maritime tradition, built at the Mevagissey shipyards during the interwar period.
› Islander — A Burmese teak hull built with timber seasoned for eight years, oak frames and teak deck.
Classic Yachts
1950–1976
› Ping XV — A Nordic Folkboat, designed in 1941 at the request of the Royal Scandinavian Sailing Federation. The “Volkswagen of sailing”.
› Malamok — A steel Bermudan sloop, launched in 1969 at the H. Schmidt shipyard.
› Izarra — A refined example of Kim Holman’s celebrated Twister series, created by one of the most influential yacht designers of the 1960s.
› Nerissa — Designed by New Zealander Arthur Robb and built by the Beltrami shipyard. A masterpiece of classic yacht design.
› Karmatán II — With lines drawn by the great John Alden. A multiple winner in her early racing years.
Modern Classic
Post-1976
› Andrea — A yacht with classic lines and a Nordic soul, built by the prestigious Swedish shipyard Hallberg-Rassy.
Why Sitges
Sitges is no ordinary setting. The “Pearl of the Mediterranean” brings together a unique combination of qualities:
› A town with a deep nautical vocation and a long history linked to the sea.
› Port de Sitges-Aiguadolç: first-class facilities located at the foot of the Garraf Natural Park.
› Just a few kilometres from Barcelona, with excellent accessibility for participants and international visitors.
› A cultural and gastronomic tradition that turns the visit into a complete experience beyond the regatta itself.
› A community committed to the sea, sustainability and nautical sport.
› Spectators on the front line: the beaches and seafront promenades allow every manoeuvre to be followed from the shore.
Commitment to Sustainability
In 2026, the organisation strengthens its commitment to sustainability and naval heritage: traditional sailing without auxiliary engine use, educational activities with local schoolchildren, minimisation of environmental impact, and collaboration with the Spanish Association of Vintage and Classic Boats, AEBEC.
